
Allison Brooks Janney was born on November 19, 1959. [2] She is an American actor. With a professional career that spans 30 years, she's recognized for her work in various genres of screen as well as stage. Janney has received various accolades which include an Academy Award, a British Academy Film Award, the Golden Globe Award, and seven Primetime Emmy Awards, in addition to being nominated to win the two Tony Awards. Janney was born in Boston but was raised at home in Dayton (Ohio). The actress was awarded a scholarship to studies at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art when she completed her studies at Kenyon College. Janney made her television debut in 1999 with the character C. J. Cregg in the role of C. J. Cregg on NBC's political drama The West Wing (2000-2006). In the course of her work, she won four Primetime Emmy Awards for this performance. In recognition of her performance as Margaret Scully, a Showtime actress in the period drama Masters of Sex, Janney was awarded her 2014 Primetime Emmy Award as Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series. Her most well-known role was her character Bonnie Plunkett.
