JoyceDeWitt first performed on stage when she was 13. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Ball State University. Subsequently, while she was performing in summer stock she was convinced by the director to join UCLA's Department of Theater MFA program,where she was awarded the Master of Fine Arts Fellowship and the Clifton Webb Scholarship. Dewitt claimed that she never ever met Abe Vigoda during her time at UCLA. DeWitt is most famous for her performance in Three's Company's 1977-1984 run as Janet Wood. This was an opportunity she was offered when she was chosen to play Janet in the second pilot. Janet was also in an episode of the show The Ropers in which she starred in the year 1979. DeWitt made her acting debut in an episode in 1984 on Three's Company. In June of 1991 she returned to acting , appearing in Noises Off at Michigan's Cherry County Playhouse. [1] She was also a part-time actress in the show Spring Fling which was a 1995 TV comedy. A character that was based on her voice, voiced by a different actress, was featured in a 1997 episode on Pinky and the Brain. She was featured on the episode Cybill, and had an appearance in the penultimate episode of Living Single. She's appeared in TV shows like Hope Island, The Nick at Nite Holiday Special, and Call of the Wild in 2000.
